Sunday January 28, 2024 We went out to Miami Beach which is west from Tela this week, it is a really nice beach with very few people out there, somewhat remote with a few scattered houses along the dirt road.  There was very little traffic on the road but I feel like it was a safe place to go,  I sure hope so because I want to go out there again.  Here is one of the more rough looking houses along the way.   It is a kind of a jungle on the way out there and we saw our first live wild monkeys.  It was fun to actually see them jumping around in the trees, from branch to branch and around the trunks, they are very agile as they run and jump around.  There were smaller young ones as well as larger older ones.  They were somewhat curious, but mostly liked to go farther away and hide.  It was hard to get a very good picture too because they run around so much, they didn't ever really sit still.  It is hard to find the one in this first p...

Sunday January 21, 2024 We actually made it to the Tegucigalpa Honduras temple as a branch.  In Psalm 24:3-5 it says; "Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;  who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.   I love how that describes the people who prepare themselves to go to learn at the temple of our God.  Isaiah 2:2 and 2 Nephi 12: 2,3 - "And it shall come to pass in the last days, when the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it.  And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Z...

We went out to the beach this week at the end of a busy day to relax for a minute as the sun was going down.  It is always so relaxing to hear the waves and feel the cool breeze blowing in from the water.  We are lucky to be in a place where we can have the opportunity to go to the beach and relax.  It is like a 5 minute walk from our house to the beach so it is always nice when we can do that.   Oops, the wave came in and got her dress and shoes all wet, oh well, it washes,  she was taking a picture of the pretty sunset and the water got her.   While we were in Progreso this past week we stopped in to a store called...

Sunday January 7, 2024 One full year out, wow, that is crazy, it sometimes seems like we just got here and other times it seems like it has been a long time.  It was Jan 2, 2023 when this Honduras Adventure mission began, since then it has been one adventure after another.  Zone conferences and district councils seem to come around very often. It is at times like these when we get out of Tela and spend a part of a day with other missionaries.  We were in Progreso this week and went to lunch afterwards with some that went to a Korean restaurant.  It was nice to go to a different kind of place to eat.  We almost always eat at Power Chicken in Progreso because they have grilled chicken, almost every other location has breaded fried chicken but the places that have grilled and thus gluten free are rare, so we have one place where we go a lot.  This Korean place seemed quite authentic,  with sushi as one of the main menu items.  We did not get sushi, b...
