We took this picture of our district this week at Zone conference on Wednesday.  We have two new missionaries in our district. From the left there is Elder Lazo who just got here from Peru last week, his trainer companion Elder Borders from Tooele,  Elder and Hermana Chappell,  Hermana Lopez from Mexico, also new to our district last week, and Hermana Tzep from Honduras.  It is always great to get to know  these missionaries and hear their stories.  Hermana Lopez says that her parents are going through a divorce right now.  She said that when she left home things were not great but they hadn't filed for divorce, and she told them that she was not going to be coming back home no matter what they did until her mission was ended.  She is very firm in her commitment to serve.  She is the oldest of three children.  It is her birthday today, so Hermana Chappell had everyone over for lunch today after church.  We didn't get a picture until after lunch so the cake isn't in the picture but Colleen made a cake for her, based on what she said she wanted,  a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.  She also wanted fried chicken, spaghetti, and fries.   Colleen added broccoli, there has to be a vegetable, right?

I think she has had a good day,  I asked if she was going to call home and she said that she might in the evening or maybe she would just wait until tomorrow, which is p day when she is allowed two hours to talk with family anyway.  I think it is great that they can call home so much now.  Some things have really changed over the years.  When I was on my mission way back in 1978, and 1979, we were not allowed to call home at all.  But then a lot of things have changed since then.

This is a picture of some of the sisters working in the family history room here in the Tela church.  They have internet and computers set up for the members to use to do this important work.  It is nice to see the efforts they make to do the Lords work.

Recycling is a thing here, believe it or not, the very poor people go around and collect plastic bottles or metal objects and sell them to make money.  This truck is loaded and tied up with rope.  I don't think they could have added one more thing on there.

The Elders are out having a great time.

And here are the Hermana's walking to an appointment to teach a gospel lesson.  We stopped at the top of the hill, where the road ended for us in the car, then the rest of the way was on foot or as many of the locals do it, on a motorcycle.
