Merrill & Colleen's Honduran Adventure

 Sunday September 24, 2023 Well, we are back in Tela again after spending one wonderful week in California and then one wonderful week in Salt Lake.  We were so fortunate to see many friends and family members while there.  This picture is after lunch with Megan and Wyatt.  It was a great two week break from the mission, sort of, Hermana Chappell still took calls and messages from sick missionaries the whole time we were there. She had to keep up with her regular nurse duties the same there as she does while here in Honduras.  It wasn't easy but she did it.  It takes a lot of time to keep up with it all.  We went to a Dr. appointment in Park City to get his opinion about Colleen's back pain.  We took the lab results that we had from the Dr. in San Pedro Sula so that he could see what we had done so far.  He gave us several options, one of which was to return to Honduras for now and do stretches and try and take it easy, he did not think ...

 Sunday Sept 17, 2023 What a great week, it has gone by way too fast but it was so great to be in California with Meggan and Janise.  She had surgery on Monday morning, she was in so much pain and was not able to do everyday life.  After the surgery she was able to stand up straight, without nearly as much pain.  By the time we left she was doing so much better it made it that much easier to be able to leave.  It was so great to be there with them, they have a wonderful house, with a spare bedroom where we stayed.  They moved in not too long ago so there were a few projects I was able to help with while we were there, which was great because it was fun to paint the closet and help put together a dresser that they got.  We installed an AC unit and did some basic cleaning which I really enjoyed doing.  I like having things like that to do.   Sunday September 10, 2023 It looks like that picture is sideways,  Colleen and Meggan are lying down on the couch.  WHAT???  Yes we are with Meggan and Janise at their home in California.  Meggan is going in for surgery on her back tomorrow morning so we received permission to come and be with her and to help her for a few days.  We are also going to Salt Lake to meet with a Dr. to see what can be done to help Colleen with her back issues. We are so happy to be here with Meggan and Janise.  They moved in to a new home for them, about 3 weeks ago, at that point we didn't think we would be seeing them or their new house for a while but when Meggan told us that she was going to be having surgery on her back we decided that if possible we should be here to support her through this.  So we got permission from our mission president to come to be with her.  We had talked already with him about maybe going to Salt Lake to see a Dr about Colleen's b...

Sunday September 3, 2023 We have Branch conference coming up in two weeks so as a branch we are cleaning the building.  Yesterday there was a group of us whose assignment was to clean the stackable chairs.  We took them outside, scrubbed them and dried them.  It was a great way as branch to work together to make our building more presentable.  I felt weird in a not a white shirt but it was good.  Next Saturday there will be another day of cleaning and then if necessary the next Saturday also.  We enjoy being with the branch members and with the Hermana missionaries working together for the common good of the building.  It is a nice building, but it needs a little attention.   On Friday it was "The day of the children" here like Fathers day and Mother's day which they also have here, but Sept 1st is children's day.  So the school children did a parade down the street.  This is Yariani, who was in the top 10 in her class so they got t...
