Sunday July 7, 2024 This past week has been such an emotional roller coaster.  As we came to the end of our 18 month assignment it was a bitter sweet experience to know that we were going home, but at the same time we were leaving those wonderful young missionaries and all the wonderful people that we had gotten to love in Tela and Telamar.  After church we went home and cleaned up the last of what was left in the kitchen and finished putting things in our bags.  The Elders, Elder Cruz and Elder Slade called and asked if they could come over and help us so they came over and helped us get our bags out to the car and helped us straighten up the house.  It was nice of them to help us get everything in the car and to help us get us on our way.  We then drove to the mission office in La Lima where we met President and Hermana Ostler, and a few of the missionaries that were there doing their final interviews.  It was fun to be there together there at the ...

Sunday June 30, 2024 What a great week this past week has been.  There was a "Mission Week" initiative here in the Central America Area where missionaries and all members were invited to do certain things each day.  Then yesterday, on Saturday the Hermanas, had a double baptism, Grandma Marina, and her granddaughter, Allison.  The Elders baptized them then President Mendoza and I did the confirmations.   On Monday it was to hold a family home evening and invite friends and neighbors, Tuesday was to give someone a Book of Mormon, and every day was something simple and easy that we all can do to share the gospel with others.  We had a great week with the Elders and Hermana's de Tela and Telamar.  We started out the week with a family home evening at Doris's house with all her grandkids, it was so awesome to be there all together with them, I'll add some pictures.  It was nighttime by the time we took the pictures so they are not great but it ...

Sunday June 23, 2024 We had a baptism here yesterday afternoon, Rodrigo Jared Romero Contreras was baptized by Elder Slade.  He is one of four boys in a part member family.  There are so many part member families here, perhaps everywhere, but little by little the missionaries are able to unite families through their covenants.  Lupe Romero is the grandmother of Rodrigo, and his brothers.  She is a very faithful Grandmother who tries so hard to help her grandchildren attend and participate in Church.  She was unable to attend the baptism because she has been unwell, she spent a week in the local hospital, but she was able to return home this past Tuesday, but was not feeling well enough to attend the baptism.  Rodrigo's dad, Lupe's son is not a member but now, the oldest three of their sons are baptized members.  He is not married to the mother of their children and have not made the effort to get married and then baptized.  It is so common h...
